14 Minesweeper Variants 2 launched on June 14, 2024 and has since received three major free content updates from Alith Games. The first arrived on September 22, 2024, adding 98 new puzzle sets combining rules from both Minesweeper Variants games, a Mac version, new galleries, and achievements. The second arrived on April 6, 2025, adding 472 new level sets with additional rule combinations. The third and most recent arrived on August 27, 2026 — today — adding two new puzzle sets, new puzzle combinations, 8 new achievements, and several quality-of-life improvements shared with the first game in the series. This establishes a clear and sustained pattern of the developer returning with meaningful new content. In the same August 27, 2026 post, the developer also announced that they are actively working on a brand-new Minesweeper-themed game, signaling continued engagement with the series even as that project is still undetailed. The developer has not announced that updates to this game are finished, and the history of unprompted free expansions supports expecting further additions.
