This game was developed solo over four and a half years, graduating from Early Access to its official 1.0 release on July 30, 2021. At that time, the developer published a heartfelt post explicitly stating that "all kinds of optimization and content filling for the game have been completed" and describing the game as finished. The developer expressed emotional exhaustion and openly described moving on to a new personal project (a horror game called TokyoStranger), making clear that Falsemen2: Upstream was their completed work. Leading up to the 1.0 release, the developer shipped the final chapters of the main story (chapters 24–32, completing the narrative on June 28, 2021), added an achievement system, and added bonus story content as rewards for long-time beta testers — all of which were bundled into the official launch update. The only DLC listed is a soundtrack that was released before the game itself (June 2020), with no new paid content ever announced. Since the 1.0 launch, activity has been limited to bug fixes, with the most recent being a small patch on November 12, 2023. No new story content, expansions, or future updates have been announced at any point after the 1.0 release. The developer's own words at launch confirm this is a passion project they consider fully realized and complete.
