ACS (originally American Cooking Simulator) launched on February 5, 2025 as a student project, with the developer initially uncertain about post-launch support. However, the developer quickly reversed course: a March 2, 2025 post confirmed that content updates were coming "quite soon," and an April 2, 2025 community post stated "we are not done with American Cooking Simulator yet." By November 17, 2025, the developer announced a full multiplayer version — American Cooking Simulator: Multiplayer — was in development, with publisher Artex brought on board to handle the expanded scope. A multiplayer demo launched on February 24, 2026 during Steam Next Fest, and a Kickstarter campaign went live on March 3, 2026 to fund the complete multiplayer game. However, the developer disclosed on February 1, 2026 that they had been self-funding since March 2025 with no outside income and that their savings were running low. The Kickstarter was described as essential to sustaining full-time development. The most recent developer communication is from March 3, 2026 — over three months before today's date of June 18, 2026 — and there has been no update confirming whether the Kickstarter was successfully funded or whether development is actively continuing. Given the financial strain disclosed and the absence of any follow-up communication, the status of the multiplayer project is uncertain.
