Adventure Craft has been in Early Access since July 5, 2017 and remains actively under development. On August 28, 2026 — just one day before this assessment — the developer shipped a landmark new build described as "five years in the making," moving it from a beta branch onto the main branch. The update includes a completely overhauled Underworld, an expanded character roster, new weapons, equipment, enemies, locations, and a brand-new Card Parts system that the developer explicitly notes still needs interface work and balance tuning. Critically, the developer — James, one half of the two-person team behind the game — was emphatic that this is not a finish line: "This is the beginning, not the finish line." The post outlines ongoing plans including active improvements between now and Steam's PvE Survival Crafting Fest, continued balance work, and a return to a "much more consistent rhythm of updates" aimed at eventually bringing Adventure Craft to full release. The new build follows a sustained period of public development updates throughout late 2025 and early 2026, covering the underground cave system overhaul, multiple new enemy factions (including seven types of Mage factions with their own tile maps), new bosses like The Dark Congregation, and extensive world content.
