On April 15, 2026, the developer released Age of History 2: Definitive Edition as a separate Steam product (App ID 3381680), representing a substantial overhaul of the game with a new world map featuring 13,892 provinces, expanded diplomacy, new religions, atomic weapons, new government types, improved AI, and numerous other enhancements. This Definitive Edition release marks the culmination of post-launch development for the base game. A demo for the Definitive Edition also went live on April 17, 2026. No further content has been announced for the original Age of History II specifically, and the developer's most recent communication on the base game's Steam page (April 2026) points players toward the Definitive Edition. The base game remains purchasable and is considered a complete, finished product at this point, with its successor/definitive package now available separately.
