Evaluation
Aimi is a short, self-contained horror/RPG that the developer created for a game jam in 2018 and later expanded before releasing on Steam on October 20, 2020. The store description presents it as a finished, complete experience — approximately 1 hour long with multiple endings, no mention of future updates or additional content.
The only post-launch developer communication beyond a minor file encryption patch (October 21, 2020) is a April 7, 2025 post in which the developer announced a brand-new game called "Grimdelve." In that post, the developer explicitly looks back on Aimi as a completed chapter, expressing pride in what was accomplished and noting they are moving forward with lessons learned. There is no mention of any planned updates, new content, or changes to Aimi itself — the post is a farewell of sorts and a signal that the developer's creative focus has fully shifted to their next project.
Aimi launched as a complete, finished product with no post-launch content cycle, no DLC, and no announced future additions. The developer's own framing — both in the store description and in the April 2025 post — treats the game as done.

About this game

Aimi is a short, atmospheric horror game initially created for the IGMC 2018 but which has since been expanded upon and improved. This game is heavily story-driven, with horror taking a backseat to a more in touch and emotional story and with gameplay being made up of puzzles in between longer cutscenes. An initial playthrough of Aimi could be completed in about 1 hour. However, there are multiple different endings that can extend gameplay. Additionally, Aimi was developed as a sort of therapy game by a 16-year-old kid (me!) so do keep that in mind.

While Aimi contains only a few optional jumpscares, there is a lot of cartoon blood and gore and extensive swearing. The game explores themes of mental illness and suicide in a thoughtful manner.
