Evaluation
Alone in the Dark 2 (Steam App ID 548890) is a classic 1993 survival horror game published on Steam on December 13, 2016. It is a straightforward re-release of a completed, finished product — there is no post-launch content cycle, no DLC, and no developer roadmap of any kind associated with this title.
The one developer news post on record (March 20, 2024) is unrelated to this game — it announces the launch of a separate, modern reimagining titled "Alone in the Dark" (Steam App ID 1310410), developed by Pieces Interactive. It was posted to this store page in error or as cross-promotion, but it describes an entirely different game.
The store description confirms this is the classic sequel featuring Edward Carnby in 1923 at Derceto — a self-contained, complete game that shipped as a finished product with no additional content planned or delivered.
Evidence
Store description identifies this as the classic 1993 sequel featuring Edward Carnby — a complete, standalone re-release of a finished game with no mention of additional content or updates.
This post announces the launch of a separate, modern 'Alone in the Dark' game (Steam App ID 1310410) developed by Pieces Interactive — it is unrelated to this classic 1993 title and does not reflect any development activity on this game.
