Ancient Warfare: The Han Dynasty has been in Steam Early Access since September 26, 2023. The game built a strong update cadence through mid-2024 and into early 2025, with major content releases roughly every 1–3 months expanding the strategic map, adding factions, scenarios, historical generals, and new troop types. The last major content update before the silence shipped on April 15, 2025.
After that, the studio went quiet for over 15 months. On July 21, 2026, the developer published an honest community letter acknowledging this directly — apologizing for being "unresponsive" and letting players down, and explicitly re-committing to fixing bugs, optimizing performance, and adding new content with the goal of giving the game "a more fitting conclusion."
Crucially, the developer followed through almost immediately: the V0.9.2.3 update shipped on August 18, 2026 — less than a month after the community letter — adding quality-of-life features including automatic talent upgrades for commanders and automatic city construction. This is a meaningful signal that the developer's renewed commitment is backed by tangible action, not just words.
The game remains in Early Access, no 1.0 release date has been announced, and the long-planned expansion into all 13 states of the Eastern Han dynasty has not been completed. However, the developer is now actively communicating and shipping updates again, which resolves the uncertainty flagged in the previous assessment. More content is clearly still planned and in progress.
