Angry Angry Shark launched on January 1, 2022 as a free-to-play multiplayer shooter. Since launch, the developer James O has maintained a consistent pattern of major content releases: Game Update 75 (March 22, 2022) added the Turtle Island map; Game Update 82 (May 19, 2022) introduced the Lightning Shark boss; Game Updates 97 and 98 (January 2023) added a new map and shark boss; Game Update 102 (December 2, 2023) added two new game modes; and Update 105 (March 9, 2024) introduced the EggTemple map. These 6 major updates span just over two years and establish a historical cadence of roughly every 3–9 months between major releases. The last major update shipped on March 9, 2024 — now over 30 months ago as of October 1, 2026. This silence is well beyond the historical pattern of major updates. However, the developer has never announced that development has concluded or that no further content is planned. There is no "final update" post, no studio closure notice, and no statement of any kind after March 9, 2024. The sustained history of substantial updates over more than two years, combined with the absence of any closure statement, means the game cannot be considered complete. That said, the extended silence since March 2024 is a notable gap. No development_uncertain signal is warranted because there are no outstanding announced commitments — the developer simply hasn't committed to future content in writing — but the gap is long enough that the active development pattern is under strain.
