ANNO: Mutationem launched on March 16, 2022 and has received a sustained stream of post-launch updates from ThinkingStars. Two major free content drops have shipped: a story DLC featuring Ayane's childhood alongside a rogue-lite minigame and new costumes (April 14, 2023), and a Boss Rogue mode — a rogue-lite boss rush — along with a Mac version and new difficulty options (January 27, 2026). Between those major updates, the developer has consistently shipped feature patches and bug fixes, with the most recent patch on July 18, 2025. In December 2024, the developer posted a thank-you message noting the upcoming third-year anniversary and explicitly stated they intended to "update the game with something new" — which was then delivered via the January 2026 Boss Rogue update. They also mentioned a "new" separate project in development. The two major updates are roughly 34 months apart, which is a wide window, but the developer has remained consistently active throughout with feature patches and communications. As of today (October 8, 2026), the last major content update was January 27, 2026, approximately 8.5 months ago. Given the two major updates spanning about 34 months, the cadence window is quite long; 8.5 months does not decisively exceed it. The last developer communication of any kind was the July 18, 2025 bug fix patch. The developer has not announced that content development is complete, and has not communicated any specific future content by name either. Both DLC items on the store (the soundtrack and Collector's Upgrade Pack) have been released since launch. The game is not a live service.
