Aooni launched on Steam on July 25, 2024 as a complete horror puzzle adventure game — a reimagining of the classic "Ao Oni" series. The store description highlights the base game along with two additional modes ("High Speed Mode" and "Ao Oni -Ai's Story-") that are presented as included features, not future content. There are no unreleased DLC listings, no roadmap, and no developer statements about planned future content. The only post-launch developer communication was a bug fix post the day after launch (July 26, 2024) addressing a startup error. On May 1, 2025, the developer released a separate, standalone sequel title — "Aooni The Horror of Blueberry Onsen" — which is a new game in the series, not additional content for this title.
