封神外传 (Fengshen Waizhuan) launched on November 3, 2021 and has been in continuous, active development ever since. The game is structured as a multi-part RPG, and the developer has been steadily building out its content across Parts 1, 2, and 3. Key content milestones include: the first chapter of Part 2 released on March 22, 2024 (version 3.82); Part 2's second and third chapters plus a major new Part 1 side area (魔域) added on August 13, 2024; Part 2's first full playthrough completed on December 27, 2024; and the first chapter of Part 3 (described as over one hour of content) released as part of version 4.0.7. The most recent post, on August 3, 2025, added further content including new character progression paths for Part 1 and Part 2, new equipment, and gameplay systems. The developer explicitly stated in a March 2023 update that "the game is not finished and is continuously being updated." Part 3 has only had its first chapter released, making it clear that substantial story content remains to be added. Updates have arrived roughly every one to three months throughout the game's lifetime, and the last known communication from the developer was on August 3, 2025 — approximately 14 months before today's date of October 1, 2026. The gap since August 3, 2025 is longer than the typical one-to-three month update cadence seen throughout the game's history. However, given the multi-part structure with Part 3 explicitly in its early stages and the long-running history of sustained updates, the evidence still points toward ongoing development rather than completion.
