Art Shop Simulator entered Early Access on March 13, 2025 as a solo developer project. Through mid-2025, development was highly active: the developer shipped major updates in April 2025 (version 0.3.0) and July 2025 (version 0.4.0, "Paws & Chaos"), alongside a steady stream of smaller patches. Activity then went quiet for several months. On March 9, 2026, the developer resurfaced with a post explaining the silence: a major home renovation had consumed their time unexpectedly. They stated the renovation was wrapping up the following week and that they would return to development with full focus. That post also teased a substantial list of features planned for the 1.0 update — including hireable artists, rival gallery competitors, sculptures, a counterfeit art detection system, an award ceremony, financial analytics, and the final shop upgrade slots — and explicitly promised the 1.0 update would arrive "before summer" 2026. That summer deadline has now passed. As of today, September 24, 2026, no 1.0 update has been announced or released, and there has been no developer communication of any kind since March 9, 2026 — a silence of more than six months beyond the promised delivery window. The developer's stated commitment to the project remains the most recent signal, but the missed promise and extended post-deadline silence create genuine uncertainty about whether the 1.0 release is still on track.
