Atan is a student project created by third-year students at Breda University of Applied Sciences. The game launched in Early Access on April 8, 2024, and fully released on June 12, 2024, adding the final level and a complete story ending. Following the full release, the team shipped a quality-of-life patch on June 20, 2024, and two hotfixes to address bugs. In the final patch note on July 5, 2024, the developers explicitly stated: "From here on out the developers of ATAN will less regularly update the game. We will be moving onwards to new projects and other endeavors." This is a clear, direct statement that the team has concluded active development on Atan. No future content has been announced, and no unreleased DLC exists. The only DLC — the game's soundtrack — was released on June 29, 2024. The game has since gone on to win the 2025 BAFTA Student Award, cementing it as a completed work.
