Evaluation

Aviassembly has been in Early Access since April 11, 2025, developed by solo developer Jelle Booij. The game has received consistent updates throughout its Early Access period, with ten numbered updates shipped as of September 12, 2026. On April 21, 2026, the developer published a detailed roadmap targeting a full 1.0 release in August 2026, outlining monthly updates covering physics improvements, visual overhauls, replayability features, a reworked and extended campaign, and launch-readiness features like localization, cloud saves, Steam Deck support, and HOTAS support. Progress against that roadmap has been slower than planned. Update 8 (June 30, 2026) delivered Steam Workshop support but noted the endless mode feature had not been completed. On August 21, 2026, the developer posted a direct update confirming the game would not be ready for full release in August and declined to commit to a new release date. Update 9 (August 31, 2026) then shipped the endless quests feature. Update 10 (September 12, 2026) added cloud saves, camera parts, and rotation joint improvements — features that were originally part of the August release prep in the roadmap. A significant portion of the original roadmap content remains undelivered, most notably the reworked and extended campaign (planned to be at least 30% longer), seaplanes, wind and weather effects, temperature mechanics, firefighting, localization, Steam Deck support, and HOTAS support. The developer remains actively engaged and communicating regularly, with the most recent post on September 12, 2026. Development is clearly ongoing with a full 1.0 release still the stated goal, though no new target date has been committed to.
Evidence
