AWA launched on June 16, 2016 as a complete shoot-em-up with nine stages and multiple aircraft. After some post-launch patches and a feature update adding new aircraft in mid-2016, the developer went quiet on the original game for several years. On December 12, 2023, the studio announced and released AWA 2024 — a heavily remastered standalone version of the game, published as a separate Steam product. This remaster represents the culmination of the developer's work on the AWA concept, adding HD visuals, a new soundtrack, improved enemy bullet patterns, and two additional aircraft. Since the remaster shipped, there have been no announcements of further content for either the original AWA or AWA 2024. The original AWA game remains purchasable and complete as-is, with all announced content having shipped years ago. The developer's most recent communication (the AWA 2024 launch post on December 12, 2023) points to the remaster as the definitive evolution of this game rather than a signal of ongoing development for the original.
