Evaluation

Balantica launched as a free-to-play card strategy game on December 16, 2024. In the weeks following launch, Team Hanzan was highly active: they shipped several hotfixes and quality-of-life patches through late December 2024, then delivered Japanese language support on December 30, 2024, followed by a significant content update (v1.1.0) on January 7, 2025 that added a boss stage, a final trial, a true ending, and new achievements. A follow-up update on January 23, 2025 added an in-game card dictionary. The developer's own December 18, 2024 post mentioned a roadmap of planned features — boss stage, new endings, Japanese language support, card compendium, and a belonging activation counter. Looking at what was subsequently shipped, all of these appear to have been fulfilled: the boss stage and new endings arrived in the January 7 update, Japanese support arrived on December 30, and the card compendium (dictionary) arrived on January 23. The roadmap commitments that were publicly communicated appear to have been fully delivered. After January 23, 2025, developer communication went quiet for nearly a year, with only a minor community-contributed Chinese language update on January 13, 2026 — not a developer-originated content push. There have been no announcements of future content, no unreleased DLC, and no new roadmap since the original commitments were fulfilled. The game has no signs of a live-service structure. Based on the trajectory of rapid post-launch updates followed by silence, the game appears to have reached its intended complete state with the January 23, 2025 patch.
Evidence
Update 1.1.1 added an in-game card dictionary system, completing the card compendium roadmap item. This is the last developer update before a prolonged period of silence.

About this game

Balancing Hope

  • Managing the Hope of Two Souls

Assigning cards to the twins adds hope to each side of the scale. If the difference in their hope grows too large, the scale will tip, and its balance will begin to falter. When the scale tips completely and balance cannot be restored, its health decreases. Additionally, failing to accumulate enough hope to surpass the set despair value for each trial also reduces the scale’s health. If the scale’s health is fully depleted, the journey can no longer continue.

  • Evolving Relationships

After each trial, the tilt of the scale affects the twins’ relationship. With strong Rapport, building hope becomes easier. In states of Conflict, it becomes much harder.

Strategically Build and Use Your Cards

  • A Variety of Card Effects

Cards assigned to the twins do more than give hope-they offer a variety of effects. Plan your deck carefully, considering the synergies between card effects.

  • Exclusive Cards

Some cards can only be assigned to one twin. Strategize your deck composition while keeping the number of exclusive cards in mind.

Choices on the Journey

  • Crossroads of Dilemmas

The path to the alter, the final destination, splits into many routes. At these crossroads, the twins will encounter various individuals and face unexpected situations.
