Barbaria launched out of Early Access on February 9, 2023, with the developer explicitly committing to "continue regular content updates, balance improvements, and fixes moving forward." Since then, Stalwart Games has delivered a steady stream of major updates: Age of Retribution (May 12, 2023), Age of the Unknown / Roguelike Update (February 9, 2024), Age of Play (December 14, 2024), Age of Healers (March 15, 2025), Age of ImpUnity (August 30, 2025), and most recently the Creative Mode Beta (May 28, 2026). That's six major named updates after the 1.0 launch, on top of the pre-launch content drops and ongoing feature patches and bug fixes in between. The May 28, 2026 update introduced a substantial new Creative Mode, added new structures, and refined existing systems — it does not read as a wind-down release. The developer remains actively engaged with the community via Discord, and there has been no statement indicating development is concluding. With the most recent major update arriving just weeks before today's date (June 21, 2026), the game is clearly in an active content update phase.

Build, Battle, Collect
Use your fists, axes, swords, bows, rocks, or anything else you can find for intense 1st person combat action. Toss enemies to allies to be dispatched, catch rocks flying toward your head, ignite an arrow before firing it at an enemy, or launch opponents into the air with traps. Then jump out to your immortal form and watch your minions carry on the battle while you rain down meteors from above. Systemic combat, enemy AI, and player-created defenses make every battle unique.Asynchronous Multiplayer
But remember, you aren’t the only Semigod in Barbaria! Attack other player-created realms to increase your Mightiness, and receive rewards when your team successfully repels others. Watch replays in miniature from your Stronghold, then strategically place structures, champions, and minions to keep future attackers at bay.Features
- Systemic 1st Person VR Combat including a variety of weapons and enemy/minion types.
- Base building: Snap together tile fragments to build your realm, then place structures and minions to defend it from other players.
- Asynchronous Multiplayer: Once you build a realm, it is always available online for others to attack/raid. Attack notifications are delivered each time you launch the game.
- Replay: Watch replays of attacks on your realm by other players to gain insights on how to improve your defenses or attack strategy.
