Barotrauma

Barotrauma launched as a full 1.0 release on March 13, 2023 and has since maintained a consistent cadence of major free content updates roughly every 3–6 months: Treacherous Tides (October 19, 2023), Blood in the Water (April 24, 2024), Summer Update (June 18, 2024), Unto the Breach (October 22, 2024), Calm Before the Storm (April 10, 2025), Autumn Update (September 17, 2025), Winter Update 2025 (December 8, 2025), and Spring Update 2026 (April 9, 2026). The next update in that sequence — Summer Update 2026 — was announced on June 12, 2026 and is expected to arrive within days of today. Beyond the ongoing free update cadence, the developers have announced and listed a paid expansion — Home & Harbor — on the Steam store as unreleased content. First announced in June 2025, it received its first gameplay trailer and a developer diary series beginning April 9, 2026, with further diary episodes covering base building and the new Descendants faction still planned. The expansion is targeted for release later in 2026. In January 2025, the developer noted a shift toward polish and fewer major new content additions for a period, but this was followed by multiple major updates through the rest of 2025 and into 2026, and the Home & Harbor expansion remains actively in development. The game is clearly in a healthy, ongoing development cycle.
