Battle Tanks: World War II is a free-to-play online multiplayer tank game that has been operating as a continuously evolving live service since its February 2019 launch. The developer has maintained a high-frequency update cadence throughout 2025 and into 2026, with the most recent major update (7.1.0) shipping on July 23, 2026 — less than a month before today's date. That update introduced the long-requested Platoon system for group play, reworked auto-zoom, improved PC controls, and delivered high-quality 3D model overhauls for seven vehicles. The game runs on a structured seasonal content model introduced in mid-2025 (Update 6.6), where three-month Seasons contain monthly Chapters with Battle Pass rewards, exclusive tanks, and themed events. Season 24 ("After the Armistice: Ash and Armor") launched on June 11, 2026, bringing a post-war wasteland theme, the AT-720 "Scavenger" as the season's trophy tank, and Chapter I already live. Season 23 ran across three Chapters, with Chapter 3 shipping May 14, 2026. Alongside the seasonal structure, the developer regularly runs limited-time events with their own progression tracks and exclusive rewards. Major gameplay systems have received substantial overhauls in this period: a complete sound redesign (Update 7.0.0, April 2026), matchmaking algorithm updates, a crafting system for Season 23 Chapter 3, battle rule changes, and an engine migration (Update 6.7, October 2025).
