Evaluation

Beavers Be Dammed entered Steam Early Access on January 16, 2018, created by a six-person student team at Wallflower Games. The game launched with eight levels and quickly received its first major update on February 3, 2018, adding four new levels and an intro animation. On March 6, 2018, the team posted a candid update explaining that their school project had officially ended, meaning the team was now dispersed and working toward their individual graduation requirements. They outlined ambitious plans — beaver customization, reworked level progression, new levels, and online multiplayer — but acknowledged the transition to remote collaboration was proving harder than expected. That March 6, 2018 post was the last official communication from the developer. The Early Access announcement had stated the game would remain in Early Access "until at least August 2018," but that milestone passed years ago without any update, patch, or statement. The store description still describes the game as "being actively developed by a team of six students," which is text from the original launch period and has not been updated. The game remains in Early Access as of June 2026, more than eight years after its last developer communication. The planned features — additional levels, beaver customization, online multiplayer, and a 1.0 release — were never delivered or acknowledged as cancelled. With no communication since March 2018 and all promised milestones long overdue, there is genuine uncertainty about whether any further development will occur.
