Beholgar launched on February 4, 2022 as a complete, self-contained metroidvania game. Prior to release, the developer expressed uncertainty about whether to finish the project at all (September 2020), asking fans to wishlist the game before committing to completion — but this concern was clearly resolved when the game shipped in February 2022.
Since launch, all developer activity has consisted entirely of bug fixes and maintenance patches, the most recent being a VSync option added on March 10, 2024.
