BELOW launched on December 14, 2018. After launch, Capybara Games remained active through early 2020, announcing and delivering one major content update — the EXPLORE mode — which released on April 7, 2020, alongside a new PS4 version. This update added a less-punishing alternative gameplay mode while preserving the original experience (renamed SURVIVE mode). A small bug-fix patch followed on April 22, 2020. That patch represents the last known official communication from the developer. All three DLC listings are soundtrack releases, all of which shipped by February 11, 2020, with no unreleased DLC on the store. The store description makes no mention of future content, roadmaps, or ongoing updates. No developer posts since April 22, 2020 have announced additional content, and the game launched as a self-contained experience with no live-service or seasonal structure. The combination of a single major post-launch update that was explicitly described as a way to open the game to more players (rather than a stepping stone to further content), followed by a maintenance patch and then complete silence through June 2026, strongly indicates the game reached its completed state with that final patch on April 22, 2020.
