BLUE REVOLVER launched on October 11, 2016 as a complete shoot-em-up. After a v1.1 Summer Update in June 2017 adding leaderboards and balance improvements, development quieted. In July 2020, the developer confirmed that a large expansion called DOUBLE ACTION had been in the works but was delayed due to health issues — while also confirming it had not been cancelled. After a lengthy development period and a public beta in September 2024, the DOUBLE ACTION update officially launched on November 14, 2024 as a free update for all players. This was a substantial addition to the game, including a new playable character (Dee), new special weapons, a 120Hz gameplay mode, a full scoring rebalance, a Stage 5 rework, a new XP-Mode, new missions, new unlockables, and an entirely new soundtrack. The store description prominently announces that DOUBLE ACTION has been released and is available to all players. There are no unreleased DLC entries, no announced future content, and no further roadmap or developer communications suggesting additional updates are planned. The sole DLC (the game's soundtrack) has been available since launch. Ever feel like the world doesn't understand your talents? Mae is a rabbit-eared genius programmer, able to manipulate reality with a few keystrokes or - the more fun option - blow up large swathes of reality in one of her custom-built Devices. However, genius is never understood in its own time, and she's provoked a severe response from the environmental group "Blue Revolver". Command her defiant counter-attack over 5 stages of manic struggle, blast through hordes of enemies and go face-to-face with fearsome bosses.
