Box Cats Puzzle

Box Cats Puzzle launched on December 2, 2020 and has been updated regularly since. Two free DLC packs have shipped — Fiesta 2021 (October 30, 2021) and Cat Year 2022 (December 24, 2021) — along with new game modes added over the years, including a Year of the Ox mode (February 2, 2021) and the CatEX (Cat Express) mode introduced in the January 4, 2025 update. A leaderboard for CatEX mode was added in a follow-up patch on January 29, 2025. The most recent developer communication of substance is the December 20, 2024 announcement, in which the developer explicitly stated: "In the future, as long as conditions allow, we will continue to add interesting new modes to this game. We promise that as long as we have good ideas, we will continuously update and improve this game." This is a direct statement of intent to keep updating the game with new content. The developer also mentioned they are working on new game projects, but did not walk back their commitment to Box Cats Puzzle. The last developer communication was on January 29, 2025. As of today (October 8, 2026), that is over 20 months of silence. The developer has not posted updates at a rigid fixed cadence — patches have been sporadic across 2020–2025 — so there is no precise cadence window to measure against. However, the developer's December 2024 statement was explicitly conditional ("as long as conditions allow," "as long as we have good ideas"), and they noted operational pressures on the studio at that time. There is no follow-up post confirming development has ended, and no post confirming further content is imminent. The conditional phrasing tempers the strength of the commitment, but does not negate it — this remains a stated intent to add content rather than a completion statement.
