Evaluation

BrokenLore: DON'T LIE launched on September 10, 2026 as a full 1.0 release. The game is a self-contained psychological horror story following the character Junko, and the launch post and store description describe it as a complete narrative experience. In the week following launch, the developer posted bug fixes and shared behind-the-scenes concept art. The most recent developer communication, dated September 24, 2026, hints at "very exciting things going on in the background" and promises "a very cool announcement coming soon" for BrokenLore fans. There are no unreleased DLC listings for DON'T LIE itself. However, the August 25, 2026 post explicitly introduces a third game in the BrokenLore universe — "DON'T PLAY," centered on the character Hideo — and describes it as "currently in development," linking to its own Steam store page. This confirms the developer has active plans for the broader BrokenLore series, and the teaser in the September 24 post suggests that announcement may relate to this or other upcoming content. The content warning here reflects the announced future entry in the series (DON'T PLAY) and the developer's own hints at an upcoming announcement — not post-launch additions to DON'T LIE itself, which appears to have shipped as a complete story. The completion date is left null because the developer has signaled something is coming.

About this game

Step into the life of Junko, a hikikomori whose carefully controlled world begins to unravel as the past resurfaces in ways she can no longer ignore.

Raised by a father who was always present but never truly there, Junko learned early to retreat inward. When her few attempts at connection were met with rejection and humiliation, she shut herself away from the outside world.

As the boundaries between memory and reality begin to fracture, familiar places transform into reflections of her past. Through exploration, unsettling encounters, and the gradual unravelling of Junko's story, she must confront the people, experiences, and emotions she has spent years trying to escape before she loses herself completely.

Features

  • Japanese First-person psychological horror: Explore, investigate, and survive within a grounded, slow-burn descent into paranoia and perception.

  • Confined exploration:  Search Junko’s apartment and surrounding distorted spaces through messages, files, and environmental clues to uncover hidden truths.

  • Tension:  Stay out of sight and move carefully as an unseen presence begins to track your behaviour.

  • Fractured reality:  Shift between familiar environments and warped liminal spaces shaped by Junko’s memories, where her memories and fears manifest.

  • BrokenLore Series: DON'T LIE is part of the “BrokenLore” series of games that can be played and enjoyed as a standalone story.

  • Wired Productions: Produced by psychological narrative specialists, Wired Productions - adding additional layers of narrative and depth, for a richer experience.
