Evaluation
Burden of Command launched on April 8, 2025 and has been in active, sustained development ever since. The developer shipped a paid DLC expansion called Three Nations on February 24, 2026, adding new playable factions including UK and US paratroopers, a German mechanized assault force, and a French Resistance storyline. This followed a November 25, 2025 announcement and a February 10, 2026 release date reveal.
Alongside that major content, the developer has consistently delivered substantial feature updates throughout the post-launch period: Armor 2.0 (February 7, 2026) overhauled tank and anti-tank combat; AI 2.0 (February 20, 2026) significantly improved enemy behavior; and a series of feature patches from mid-2025 through mid-2026 added new unit types, dedicated animations and sound effects, smoke mechanics, and more.
The most recent update — posted on August 31, 2026 — includes a pointed note in its features list: "Prep for next campaign ;-)". This is a direct hint from the developer that another campaign is being prepared, which strongly suggests additional content beyond the current release is in the works, even though no formal announcement has been made. All currently listed DLC has been released, but the developer's own words in the latest patch point to ongoing development of new content.
Evidence
Full Release 1.11 patch notes include the feature item 'Prep for next campaign ;-)' alongside armor improvements and bug fixes — the developer is explicitly signaling that a new campaign is being prepared.
Patch notes mention 'Campaigns can have mouse over descriptions now — now that we will have multiple campaigns its needed,' further reinforcing that additional campaigns beyond the current one are being developed.
