Button City launched on August 9, 2021 as a complete narrative adventure game with a self-contained story. Since launch, the developer has released occasional maintenance and compatibility patches but no gameplay expansions. The only paid DLC is an official artbook released on August 10, 2022 — a supplementary collectible item, not a gameplay expansion.
A sequel, Button City: Soccer Days, was announced at Wholesome Direct on June 10, 2023. This is an entirely separate game; the July 2024 patch even added a wishlist button for it within the base game, underscoring that it is a distinct product and not additional content for Button City itself.
The most recent developer posts — a bug fix on June 12, 2026 (handling Steam Achievements and a Unity runtime update) and a feature patch on June 25, 2026 (adding a running mechanic for Fennel) — reflect ongoing housekeeping and light quality-of-life work rather than new content.
