Calyx entered Early Access on January 29, 2026, with Part One of its campaign, a Tech Tree, Skirmish mode, and five Calyx species. Studio 568 has maintained a consistent development cadence since launch. On March 10, 2026, the developers shipped v0.1.0.2, a substantial feature update adding new buildings (Isotope Reactor, Isotope Silo), three new modules, skirmish improvements, and a revamped upgrade system. On July 3, 2026, the Leviathan Update (v0.2) launched — the game's largest update to date. It added an entirely new ocean biome, three naval unit types (Comet gunship, Broadside battleship, Ark transport), the Shipyard and Naval Workshop buildings, the Fathom enemy species, the next chapter of the campaign (6 new campaign maps), 6 new skirmish maps, and 2 new challenge maps. Follow-up patches on July 7 and July 8 addressed feedback and bugs from that update. The developer has not announced any specific upcoming content beyond what has now shipped, but the game is clearly in active development with a regular cadence of substantial updates. No statement has been made indicating development is winding down.

About this game

A combination RTS and base builder with a brand new kind of enemy, the Calyx are a group of powerful plant-aliens that, left unchecked, quickly spread to control swathes of the map.

As the only remaining occupant of an Avaris Corporation deep-space mining vessel, you’ve arrived in orbit around a barren-looking planet. While you’re trying to get over being frozen for more than a century, you’re dropped to the surface as the ship’s AI outlines your Ore mining targets.

Build a power network, set up Harvesters and refine Ore before sending it to orbit for Credits. Build walls and turrets to protect your base. Deploy tanks and artillery to push the Calyx back before it gets too strong.

Balance your base’s energy requirements carefully to avoid vital defences being down on power.

Secure rare deposits to improve your mining and military capacity. Connect to booster buildings for additional power, mining and healing buffs.

Will you establish a strong defence, or attack the Calyx before it spreads too far? Dig in and build a massive force, or adopt a mobile and nimble strategy? There are many ways to defeat the different varieties of Calyx. Start your base wherever you like, experiment and develop your styles of play, and learn to cope with different scenarios.

Protect Data Archives to gain Research Points, and use the tech tree to unlock and upgrade more advanced units and buildings. Unlock the Inferno flamethrower and watch the Calyx burn! Build the Unit Workshop and manufacture the Goliath, a massive, multi turret tank, and boost its speed with hover technology. Unlock Orbital technologies and fire a devastating laser beam from orbit.

Protect and power communication arrays to access the corporation’s deep space network. Scan the Calyx roots to learn more about how these hostile lifeforms function. Discover new and dangerous Calyx variants as you battle to gain control of the planet and try to find a way home!
