Castle Cardians entered Steam Early Access on October 8, 2021 and has been in that state ever since. The developer — a solo indie developer — shipped several major content updates during the Early Access period: new chapters and levels in January 2022 (V0.160001/V0.160002), a major faction enchantment update in December 2022 (V0.170001), and another large content drop in February 2023 (V0.180001). These updates added cards, enemies, enchantments, artifacts, and gameplay systems at a cadence of roughly every 3-6 months.
Notably, a developer post from April 2022 stated that localization would be "perfected before the game leaves EA status," signaling an intent to eventually release the game as version 1.0. That has not happened.
The last official developer communication of any kind was February 24, 2023. As of June 2026, more than three years have passed without any update, patch, or developer post. This silence far exceeds the developer's previously established update cadence. There is no announced reason for the halt in updates, and the game remains in Early Access with no confirmed path to 1.0 completion.
