Castle Crashers originally launched on Steam on September 26, 2012 and has been a complete, polished game for many years. The Behemoth recently returned to the game with a new paid DLC called Painter Boss Paradise, which was announced in July 2024, detailed further in January 2025, and launched on August 6, 2025. The DLC added new character artwork, the new playable character Paint Junior, Steam Workshop support for custom knight skins, and new map and menu art. Following the DLC launch, The Behemoth issued a series of bug fixes and patches through November 3, 2025 (Patch 3.1), addressing various issues introduced by the new content.
