Chained Echoes

Chained Echoes launched on December 8, 2022 as a complete, story-driven JRPG. After launch, the developer shipped several feature patches (New Game+, language support, crystal system improvements) and continued refining the game based on player feedback. In December 2024, the developer announced a story DLC called Ashes of Elrant, originally targeting Q2 2025. The DLC released on August 7, 2025, bringing a new area, a new companion character, and a full new soundtrack. Bug fix patches followed quickly in August 2025 (v1.344 and v1.345), addressing issues introduced with the DLC. A further security patch (v1.4) shipped on October 4, 2025, addressing a Unity Engine vulnerability — the most recent developer communication on record. Importantly, the August 7, 2025 DLC launch announcement made no mention of additional planned content. The developer described it as an opportunity to give players "more of what you fell in love with" and thanked the community for making "this journey" possible — language that reads as a natural conclusion to the game's post-launch content arc. No further DLC, expansions, or roadmap items have been announced. All three DLC entries in the store (Ashes of Elrant and its soundtrack, plus the original soundtrack) are marked as released with no unreleased items. A bundle combining the base game and the DLC was created at launch time, described as a "completionist set." With all announced content shipped, no outstanding commitments, and no signals of further development, the game appears to be content-complete as of the Ashes of Elrant release on August 7, 2025.
