Chasing Static

Chasing Static is a self-contained psychological horror short story that launched on October 14, 2021. The store description explicitly describes it as "a self-contained story with an average playtime of 2 hours," and the game launched with only a soundtrack DLC — no expansion passes, season passes, or additional content were ever announced. Within days of launch, the developer issued polish patches (v1.2 on October 17, 2021) addressing bugs and quality-of-life issues, but no new content was promised or delivered beyond the base game. By August 2022, the developer publicly announced they had moved on to a new project — Hollowbody, described as a spiritual successor to Chasing Static — signaling that Chasing Static's development was definitively concluded. Subsequent posts from 2024 continue to promote Hollowbody, confirming the developer's full attention has shifted to that title. Chasing Static shipped as a complete, finished product on its release date with no post-launch content ever planned or delivered.
