Chess Survivors

Chess Survivors launched into full 1.0 release on August 31, 2023, after nearly 10 months of early access. The solo developer, Aarimous, continued post-launch work through several feature patches and one major content update (Endless Mode, December 21, 2023), as well as a boss fight teaser in February 2024. However, the developer explicitly stated on December 5, 2024 that they are "no longer actively working on the game." The last actual update was a bug fix hotfix on September 9, 2025 (Build 1.6 Hotfix #1), which followed a localization patch on August 26, 2025 adding Japanese, Korean, and Simplified Chinese support. While those 2025 patches came after the December 2024 statement about winding down, they represent minor maintenance and polish rather than new content, and no new features or content have been announced since. The developer has been transparent that their focus has moved to a new project, and the game should be considered content-complete. The boss fight mentioned in February 2024 was described speculatively ("I might just add your idea"), and the December 2024 post further confirms active development has ended. The completion date reflects the last shipped update (the September 9, 2025 hotfix), which is when the game reached its final state.
