Chess, Texas is a story-driven chess adventure through a pixel-art Wild West. Travel from town to town, meet rivals with something to prove, and settle your battles on the board. Between matches, there's a frontier to explore and another challenge just down the road.
Explore a frontier built for chess
Walk through towns, forests, and desert routes. Step into saloons, talk to the locals, and discover shops and new opponents along the way. Your journey connects the places you visit with the battles you fight, giving every stop a reason to look around.
Find a different fight on every board
Adventure encounters put you in authored positions with unusual armies and special tiles. A familiar chess idea can become a very different problem when walls block a route or a dangerous square changes your plan.
Bring items into battle: place walls, set TNT, or turn a capture into a High Noon duel. Learn what each tile does as you encounter it, then decide how to use it.

Meet eccentric townsfolk and chess rivals on your way through the story. Take on themed Chess Hall challenges, collect medals, and open the way to new areas as you work toward the final showdown.

Step away from the adventure for dedicated puzzle practice. Choose themes such as checkmates, tactics, and game stages, or mix several themes into one session. Track your puzzle rating and keep looking for the move that makes the position click.

Take a detour to the Frontier Arcade or try Dice Chess. As you progress, unlock Sandbox to set up positions, explore opening lines, review engine analysis, and play against a bot. Endless mode offers another way to test yourself through a continuing run of battles.
