Chinatown Detective Agency launched on April 7, 2022 as a complete point-and-click adventure game. In the weeks following launch, the developer released a series of bug-fix and quality-of-life patches. The most substantial post-launch update arrived on December 7, 2022 (version 1.1.05-beta), which added a free-save system and Brazilian Portuguese localization — features the team had been working on since launch based on player feedback.
Prior to launch, a January 2021 roadmap mentioned two Kickstarter stretch-goal DLC packs (Hong Lim Mahjong Club and The Marigold Empire), described as free rewards for backers. These were projected for September and December 2021 respectively. However, no DLC has ever appeared in the store listing, no subsequent developer post announced them as shipped, and the developer made no further mention of them after the game launched in April 2022. Given that these were Kickstarter backer rewards (not publicly sold DLC) and were never listed on the Steam store, they do not appear in the DLC listing and cannot be confirmed as outstanding public commitments.
The last developer communication of any kind was the December 7, 2022 feature patch. There have been no news posts, announcements, or updates of any kind since that date — now over three and a half years ago as of June 2026. The developer established no sustained pattern of major post-launch content releases. The December 2022 patch was focused on quality-of-life improvements rather than new story content, and no future content was teased or announced in it or any subsequent communication. Given the complete silence since December 2022 and the absence of any announced or listed upcoming content, the game is best understood as a complete, finished product.
