Evaluation

Close Me released on August 9, 2017 as a short exploration game. Its only DLC — a New Game+ and OST pack — was released on March 16, 2018. In May 2025, the developer announced a 10-year anniversary celebration with free updates planned for their entire Steam catalog through August 31, 2026. For Close Me specifically, the planned additions included folding the New Game+ gameplay content into the base game, new random events, a new ending, and Steam achievements. That Close Me anniversary update shipped on November 18, 2025, delivering everything that had been announced: New Game+ content for all base game owners, 13 new random events, a new exclusive costume for prior DLC purchasers, and the previously DLC-only content integrated into the main game. The DLC was subsequently delisted on January 6, 2026, as promised. A small bug fix followed on December 7, 2025, correcting a launch error in the non-DLC Windows version. The previous evaluation treated the broader studio-wide anniversary campaign (running through August 31, 2026) as an outstanding commitment for Close Me specifically. However, the developer's May 2025 announcement was clear that each game would receive its own named update — and Close Me's named update has fully shipped. The anniversary campaign described distinct, game-specific deliverables; the other games' updates do not constitute unshipped content for Close Me. No developer post has announced any additional content for Close Me beyond what has already been delivered, and today's date of October 8, 2026 is past the August 31, 2026 anniversary campaign end date. The game is content-complete. The last developer communication specific to Close Me was the December 7, 2025 bug fix post.

About this game

You wake up, not remembering what dream you had last night. What time is it? Does that matter? This is a simple exploration game. Or at least, that's what I'd like you to believe. Different people experience different things in their lives, and that's reflected in this game. Things come and go, fleeting moments that are easy to miss. What causes things to come into existence? Were they always there, or do they only exist once they're perceived? There's more to life than death. If you don't find anything, close me. You digging through my secrets is unpleasant to me. You might get curious and decide to open me again, but maybe it'd be best if you didn't.

To-Do List:

  • Open me
  • Wake up
  • Go outside
  • Smell the flowers
  • Stare at the horizon
  • Come back inside
  • Go get a cup of water
  • Contemplate life
  • Go back to bed
  • Close me

  • ...

  • Open me again?
  • ???
