Comatose entered Early Access on June 4, 2026, launching with Chapter 1 of a planned three-chapter story — the result of nearly two years of solo development by developer Leo. At launch, the developer confirmed that Chapters 2 and 3 would follow as free updates on the road to full release. The developer has been consistently active since launch, shipping multiple patches and updates. Most significantly, on August 26, 2026, Chapter 2, Part 1 was released — adding new enemies, new cutscenes, and roughly 1.5 hours of new gameplay. The developer explained the decision to split Chapter 2 into two parts as a way to deliver content more frequently rather than making players wait for the full chapter at once. That same August 26 post explicitly states that Chapter 2, Part 2 is scheduled for October 2026. Combined with the earlier developer communication on July 22, 2026 confirming that all future chapters are free for existing owners and that Chapter 3 remains planned before full release, there is a clear and active roadmap still in progress. The game is firmly in an unfinished Early Access state with substantial content still on the way.
