Evaluation

Combat Mission: Battle for Normandy launched on Steam on March 28, 2023, arriving with four DLC packs available on day one (Commonwealth Forces, Market Garden, Vehicle Pack, and Battle Pack 1). A fifth DLC — Battle Pack 2 — followed on June 6, 2024, timed to coincide with the 80th anniversary of D-Day. In August 2024, the original developer Battlefront was acquired by Slitherine/Matrix Games. The full team, including the original creators, joined Slitherine, ensuring continuity of development. In a February 2025 developer update, the studio's founder provided a detailed look ahead. Most significantly for this title, he confirmed that "more high quality Battle Packs for existing CM2 Families" are planned, to be produced by the same group responsible for the previous Battle Packs. Since Battle for Normandy is part of the CM2 family, this signals that additional paid content for this game remains in the pipeline, even though no specific new DLC has been named or listed on the store yet. The store description also explicitly states the game is "supported for the long haul with patches, upgrades and expansions," reinforcing the developer's ongoing commitment. As of October 2026, no further developer communication has appeared since the February 6, 2025 post, but that post included explicit forward-looking content commitments, so the lack of a newer update does not undermine those stated plans. The last confirmed content release was Battle Pack 2 on June 6, 2024, and the developer has not indicated that the CM2 content program has concluded.
