Evaluation

Cookard is a free-to-play card-based cooking game that launched on May 10, 2024. The developer, Panitia GameDev, was active with updates through late 2024, shipping multiple feature patches and a significant content update (v1.1.2) in November 2024 that added new mechanics, recipes, and quality-of-life improvements. However, the developer was transparent about shifting focus: a November 2024 post explained that the team had already moved most of its attention to a separate game, The Chef's Shift, which had received publisher funding. That game launched on March 31, 2025. After that launch, the most recent Cookard update — a small cosmetic patch adding kitchen and background customization — was posted on February 16, 2026. The November 2024 post mentioned a possibility of a premium sequel to Cookard but framed it as speculative ("we are considering," "there's a possibility"). This was not a concrete commitment to further Cookard updates, and no follow-up announcement has materialized. With The Chef's Shift now shipped and the last Cookard communication being a minor cosmetic update on February 16, 2026, there is no announced future content for Cookard. The game has no unreleased DLC, no roadmap, and no developer statement promising further updates. It appears to have reached the end of its active development cycle as a free experimental project.
Evidence
Developer stated the team had shifted focus to The Chef's Shift due to publisher funding. Mentioned Cookard has more potential and they are 'considering' further development or a premium sequel after finishing The Chef's Shift — framed as speculative, not a commitment.

About this game

Cookard is a cooking game where you run a restaurant by stacking cards to prepare and serve dishes to customers.

Prepare Dish

Every dish requires a certain set of steps and ingredients, which can typically be completed by dragging ingredient cards (such as Egg, Dough, Honey) to utensil cards (such as Oven, Stove). You can always check the Recipes section if you're at loss. As the game progresses, you'll unlock more recipes to cook!

Serve Dish

Dragging a 'Customer' card on top of a 'Table' card will reveal their desired dish. Serve them by placing their desired dish on top of them. Customers won't linger for very long, so make sure to deliver their dish in a timely manner!

Buy & Trade

Every dish requires a set of ingredient cards, and you'll need to stock up on them from time to time. Ingredients can be bought by placing a coins card on top of a store card, such as 'Store' or 'Fruit Stall'.

Sometimes you'll find yourselves surrounded by unecessary stuff. It's good idea to sell them in the 'Trade House' to get coins in return. You could also trade various items to get other items, such as an additional Table or Oven, etc.

Complete Quests

Completing quests earns you rewards, often including new additions to the restaurant, such as new utensils and recipes. Progress!

Hire Workers

Tired of clicking Water Pump or Hand Crank? Hire workers to help you generate electricity!
Put them on Running Wheel to kickstart your machinations!

Automate Your Kitchen

Who knows moving and sorting cards will be so tiring? Unlock magnet and use it to pull the cards from one place to another!
