Countess in Crimson launched on November 11, 2023 and received one paid DLC, The Black Dawn, which released on May 28, 2025. The DLC itself was subsequently updated with additional content in October 2025 (Update 2.1.0), which added new scenes and Halloween-themed content. In that same October 26, 2025 developer post, Digital Seductions explicitly stated: "This is our last planned content update for Countess in Crimson as we refocus our attention to upcoming projects." A follow-up bug fix patch (2.1.2) was released on January 14, 2026 to address a scene-locking issue, but this was maintenance only and consistent with the developer's statement that content development had concluded. The developer has also publicly announced a new, separate game — Serpentine Shadows and the Joys of Vengeance — confirming their attention has moved on. The game and its DLC are complete as of October 26, 2025.

About this game
Countess in Crimson follows the story of Josh and Ashley – a young couple stranded somewhere in the Carpathian Mountains who eventually find themselves in a secluded village whose denizens live in the shadow of a menacing castle towering over the landscape. Within the castle resides the titular Countess along with her lustful entourage. As the story unfolds, vicious plots and agendas are revealed while your choices ultimately determine Ashley and Josh's fate.
Gameplay-wise, Countess in Crimson is an interactive visual novel / adventure game hybrid with strong emphasis on dialogue and, of course, steamy and passionate romance.
