Cryptmaster launched on May 9, 2024 as a complete dungeon-crawling word adventure. The developer released several patches and fixes in the months following launch, including a feature patch in July 2024 that added Steam Deck improvements and a new predictive text system. On May 29, 2025 — the game's one-year anniversary — the developer shipped a substantial free Anniversary Update, which expanded the in-game card game "Whatever" with over 100 new cards, added new NPCs, expanded the Downwood area with a new graveyard and tavern, introduced a new enemy type (the Piskies), and added a world map feature. Notably, this post explicitly stated that "My dungeon will be getting an expansion," signalling that paid or free expansion content is in development beyond what was included in this update. Following that, on June 10, 2025, the developer opened a public beta branch (version 1.112) to test bug fixes and refinements tied to the Anniversary Update content. The active beta testing indicates ongoing development work is in progress. An expansion has been announced but not yet released or detailed further. Anyone waiting for all content before playing should be aware that additional content is on the way.
