Crystal Caves HD launched on October 15, 2020 and has received a steady stream of feature updates ever since. The developer, Emberheart Games, has shipped new content at a consistent pace across multiple years: platform support (Linux, November 2020), seasonal updates and level editor expansions (November 2020, February 2021, December 2021, October 2022, November 2022), and most recently a 34th Anniversary update on October 23, 2025 that added a new Mylo skin, new level editor objects, new terrain tiles, and new weather types. Hotfixes followed in the days after that update, and in December 2025 the developer organized a community Christmas Advent Calendar event with a new Santa skin, skin selection features, and new terrain themes. The October 2025 update explicitly closes with "We're not done yet," a direct statement from the developer confirming ongoing work. The game's Steam Workshop integration gives the developer an ongoing reason to expand the level editor toolset, and the consistent annual pattern of seasonal updates and feature additions shows no sign of stopping. No completion announcement has been made.
