Evaluation

Dahlia View launched on November 2, 2021 as a complete detective thriller. After a period of publishing rights complications, the developer regained control of the game in 2024 and resumed active support, shipping a series of substantive patches including a new scene, bug fixes, and quality-of-life improvements through late 2024 and into 2026. On October 7, 2026, the developer released what they are calling the Director's Cut — a major overhaul incorporating 214 fixes covering visual improvements, cinematics, audio, and gameplay polish. The post explains the full history of delays (a publisher dispute, industry turbulence from 2023–2025, and the complexity of securing publishing rights across eight platforms) and announces that the game is now launching across PS4, PS5, Xbox One, Xbox Series, Switch 1, and Switch 2. Critically, the developer closes the announcement with this statement: "there of course will be support where support's needed, this isn't the end of Dahlia View, but it's definitely a nice footnote in a 5 year journey and it's time to return to RIPPER as we ramp up in production." This makes clear that while routine bug-fix support may continue, the studio's focus is shifting to their next game (RIPPER). No future named content, expansions, DLC, or updates beyond incidental support are announced. The Director's Cut represents the culmination of the team's creative work on this title. The only DLC listed — the OST — was released on launch day in 2021 and was updated in May 2026. Given the Director's Cut shipped today and the developer has explicitly signalled the end of their primary creative work on Dahlia View, the game is now complete as of October 7, 2026.

About this game

Welcome to a world of suspicion, deception and busy bodies. Welcome to Dahlia View.

Inspired by 1950’s cinema, White Paper Games brings you a detective thriller with twists, turns and accusations in a case that’s taken the attention of an entire neighbourhood.

A girl has gone missing and your neighbours are acting suspiciously.

You play the role of a retired detective, a detective that shouldn’t be on the case, but who can’t help themselves. You need to find the truth, a truth that will cause close relationships to fracture.

You know from years of experience that when a child goes missing, it’s often the people closest that know something. Since they won’t give you the answers, you must take matters into your own hands. When a girl’s life is at stake, etiquette goes out the window.

How do you find the missing child?

By Spying

You have the perfect view from your window - take that opportunity to spy on your neighbour’s daily activities to see if they’re hiding anything suspicious.

By Breaking and Entering

You see something that piques your curiosity - you can’t help yourself. Break into areas you have no business being, pick locks that your neighbours think will protect their secrets, maybe take an item or two, for evidence of course…

By making your own deductions in classic detective style

We’re not holding your hands here - You’re the detective, you have the evidence, now how does it connect? We’ll leave that to you to figure out

A young girl’s life is at risk. Wouldn’t you do anything you could to return her to her family?
