Daikaiju Daikessen: Versus is a free-to-play Early Access arcade brawler that launched on November 18, 2020. The developer released several patches in the weeks after launch, then published a significant announcement on February 16, 2021. In that announcement, the developer revealed that the upcoming V.0.1.9 patch would be "the last major update" for this free fan game, and that all future development effort was being redirected to a new standalone paid title — DAIKAIJU DAIKESSEN: OPERATION GUARDIAN (DDOG). The developer also noted the store page would eventually be converted to represent the new game. A follow-up patch (V.0.1.8.1) was released on March 1, 2021. Since March 1, 2021, there have been no further updates, announcements, or communications of any kind from the developer. The promised final V.0.1.9 update was never confirmed as shipped. The game remains in Early Access with a store description still promising ongoing roster additions, new stages, and game modes — content that the developer indicated in early 2021 would not be coming to this title. The combination of a promised-but-undelivered final update, a development pivot to a different project, and over five years of complete silence since March 1, 2021 creates significant uncertainty about whether any further work on this game will occur.

GAME FEATURE

• Classic Fighting System
Inspired by old school arcade fighting games such as King of the Monster and Godzilla: Domination, the simplistic fighting system makes for a straightforward and fun combat experience.

• Combos and Skills
Get ready to crumble your foes with a variety of combo moves and skills with easy-to-execute button inputs.

• What a Roster!
My focus is to include Kaiju from various creators from around the world. With an evergrowing roster, you’ll be able to get a glimpse of the universes and characters of your fellow Kaiju fans.

• Destruction!
Destroy everything in your path or die trying to save the world. Either way, destruction is inevitable as that is the way of the Daikaiju!

• Various Game Modes!
Currently, the story mode is still a work in progress. However, there are plenty of arcade modes such as Survival, Versus, Battle Zone, and EX Missions that will be implemented via updates.

*Know issues, you must have two controllers for 2P Versus mode to be work.
(support PS4 & Xbox-type controllers, as well as generic PC gamepads! Steam Controller support is still under discussion)
