Evaluation
Darold The Doomer: Psychedelic Lucid Dreams launched on April 6, 2022 as a free-to-play indie game. Following launch, the developer shipped a handful of feature patches and bug fixes through June 2022, then released the sequel "Back 2 Reality" as DLC on September 16, 2022 — the only major content addition post-launch. Both DLC items (the soundtrack and the sequel) have been released. No DLC remains unreleased.
After September 2022, the developer shifted focus to a new project called Mind of the Midwest, announcing it in January 2023 and releasing a demo in January 2024. In the April 2025 three-year anniversary post, developer Janxferz reflected on the game's success but spoke in terms of uncertainty about future projects generally, with no mention of any planned content for Darold The Doomer. The April 6, 2026 four-year anniversary post similarly contains no development announcements for this game.
All content for Darold The Doomer appears to have been completed with the Back 2 Reality DLC release on September 16, 2022. The developer has since moved on to other projects, and there are no outstanding commitments or announced future content for this game.
Evidence
Developer announces Mind of the Midwest as the next project, framing Darold The Doomer as finished and development moving on.
Back 2 Reality DLC released and marked as shipped. Both DLC items are released; none remain unreleased.
