Evaluation

Dawnmaker launched on July 31, 2024 as a fully released game. After launch, the developer shipped one major content update — the Characters Update on October 7, 2024 — which added new playable characters, a large amount of new cards and buildings, and an undo button. A quality-of-life and balance patch followed in March 2025, and the game was ported to iOS and Android in December 2025. The January 2025 post-mortem by the developer reflects on the three-year journey of making Dawnmaker, a tone that signals the game is a completed project. The most significant forward-looking signal is a March 2026 announcement in which Arpentor Studio unveiled their next game, Corpus et Spiritus, described as "coming to Steam this summer." This announcement was made directly to Dawnmaker's player community and positions Dawnmaker as a finished chapter, with the studio's attention now clearly focused on their next title. There are no unreleased DLC listings, no roadmap promising future Dawnmaker content, and no developer statements indicating further updates are planned for the Steam version. The mobile launch on December 18, 2025 appears to represent the final major milestone for this title. With the studio now publicly promoting a new game, Dawnmaker is best understood as a complete, finished product.

About this game

Dawnmaker is a solo strategy game combining elements of city building and deck building to create a board game-like experience. In a world covered by a toxic Smog, only you can rekindle the ancient lighthouses and bring light and life back. Construct buildings, gain new cards, generate resources and improve your central lighthouse to unlock new building space.

  • Optimize your deck — Gain increasingly powerful cards as you improve your city. Your cards and buildings interact in various ways: choose them wisely to create the most powerful combinations!

  • Build efficient cities — Make the best of your limited space by optimally positioning your buildings. Improve your lighthouse to repel the Smog and expand your city.

  • Manage your resources — Grow farms, build industries, develop science and inspire your people to create the rarest of resources: Eclairium!

  • Reclaim the lost continent — The continent of Heksiga has been covered by a toxic Smog. Repair and improve magical lighthouses to repel that Smog and reclaim the land, region by region.

  • Recover lost technologies — Explore vestiges of the old Empire and rediscover technologies that were lost to the Smog.
