Evaluation

Desk Top Racer launched as a free-to-play game on September 8, 2026. It is built around online multiplayer racing, continuous championship progression, randomized crate rewards, a mascot gacha machine using tradeable DTR Coins (sellable on the Steam Community Market), and league-based matchmaking — all hallmarks of a live service game designed to run indefinitely rather than reach a defined completion point. The developer has been actively updating the game since launch. A bug fix post went out on September 9, 2026, followed by Update 1.0.1 on September 12, 2026 (introducing Activities, the Plincar reward board, part selling, and interface improvements), and Update 1.0.2 on September 14, 2026 (adding 9 new mascots, the DTR Coin currency, a new car, and improved league matchmaking). That's two substantive content updates in the first week after launch. The bug fix post also noted the team is "excited to share more news soon," signaling ongoing development intentions. All three DLC items (a premium car pack, crate storage expansion, and soundtrack) were released on launch day. The game's structure — with Steam Inventory integration, tradeable in-game currency, and rotating rewards — is consistent with a live service model that will continue to receive content and seasonal updates indefinitely.

About this game

TURN YOUR DESKTOP INTO A LIVING RACETRACK

Desk Top Racer is an online idle racing management game that lives on a strip of your desktop. Build your garage, prepare your cars, and let the races unfold while you work, study, or play something else. And whenever you like, take the wheel.

TWO WAYS TO PLAY

Automatic mode: you build, they race

The races run on their own. What matters is your strategy: pick the car, equip the parts, look after its condition, and go for the podium.

  • Tour: 32 countries to conquer, in championships of ten races.

  • Online races: rooms of 20 drivers, matched with you by power level.

  • League: MMR-based championships once you finish the Tour.

  • Weather: six weather types in rotation change who has the edge each day.

  • Radar: follow the race, the standings, and the records.

Driving Mode (experimental): now you drive

Accelerate, brake, and take the corners yourself. Cars are the same for everyone: it all comes down to your driving.

  • Multiplayer: online rooms with up to 20 real drivers, with qualifying and a starting grid.

  • Practice: race against bots on any track you like, with a braking guide line.

  • Your automatic race keeps running in the background, so you don't miss a thing.

A GARAGE THAT NEVER STOPS EVOLVING

Between one race and the next, there is always something to improve.

Parts, crates, and upgrades

  • Six part types in six rarities, from Common to Mythic.

  • Crates come from racing. Drag the part to its slot and watch your performance rise.

  • Upgrade your parts with no level cap, sell them for Credit, or dismantle them for Scrap.

Mastery, Collection, and Workshop

  • Mastery Tree: invest in performance, economy, and automation, such as opening crates automatically.

  • Mechanical Collection: complete part sets and earn stats for all your cars.

  • Workshop: every car racks up mileage and earns paint points to unlock new colors.

  • Offline rewards: keep earning Credit and Mastery even with the game closed.

ALWAYS SOMETHING TO DO

  • Weekly Missions: five new missions every week, with DTR Coin as the reward.

  • Mascots: ten companions with their own bonuses to win at the Mascot Machine.

  • TrackCards: earn each country's card, evolve its rarity, and equip a set with bonuses.

  • Plincar: short on Credit, Scrap, or Mastery? One DTR Coin buys a spin.

STEAM ITEMS: DISCOVER, COLLECT, AND TRADE

Some rewards may reveal special items compatible with the Steam Inventory, identified in the game by the M badge. When eligible, they can be transferred between the game and your inventory.

Eligible items can be viewed or listed on the Steam Community Market. Availability and prices are determined by the market and may vary.

FOLLOW THE RACE YOUR WAY

Keep the compact race strip on your desktop or open the panels to check your garage, your championship, the Radar, and your progression.

The track stays alive, and your next victory may be just one smart decision away.

THE FUTURE

Desk Top Racer keeps evolving. These are some of the features already planned:

  • Championship seasons: season-based competition in automatic mode.

  • Driving Mode evolution: its own ranking and attributes to assign based on your progress.

  • Team system: join other players, earn rewards, and build your reputation.
