After a long quiet period — during which a September 2025 post noted that the game's last product update had been May 2018 — Hidden Path Entertainment returned to the game in early 2026 with a burst of activity. On March 7, 2026, a feature patch added new language voice-over support and prepared the game for a new DLC. The Aftermath DLC launched on March 8, 2026, adding five new story missions continuing the campaign. The official soundtrack was also released as a standalone purchase on March 3, 2026. A follow-up bug fix patch was released on April 24, 2026, addressing cloud saves, leaderboard capacity, and UI improvements. Both DLC entries in the store listing are now released with no unreleased items remaining. The store description presents the game as a refined, complete package ("there has never been a better time to deploy your defences"), and while the Aftermath description teases the broader Defense Grid universe, no specific future content has been announced or listed.
