Evaluation

Dino Hazard: Chronos Blackout launched as a full 1.0 release on December 22, 2023, following a roughly 3-year Early Access period. The developer confirmed at launch that Part 6 — the final chapter — was complete, and the announcement post framed the full release as the conclusion of the game's development. However, since launch, Bone Collectors has continued to actively update the game at a consistent pace. Rather than treating 1.0 as a hard stop, the team has shipped a steady stream of substantial feature patches throughout 2024, 2025, and into 2026. These go well beyond simple bug fixes: they include entirely new map areas (the Lighthouse, February 2024), a full weather system with tropical storms (March 2024), an Auto Battle system and 144Hz monitor support (December 2025), a new dinosaur species (Dasosaurus, May 2026), six new story scenes in Part 5 (May 2026), an Android mobile version in beta (August 2024), and ongoing translation expansions (Russian, Japanese, Swedish, Dutch). The most recent patch arrived on June 13, 2026 — just one day before today's date. The only DLC listed is the game's soundtrack, which was released back in February 2021 and is already available. No unreleased DLC or season pass items are listed on the store. The developer has not announced specific future content by name, but the patch on December 8, 2025 explicitly noted that "a new species update is in development," and the cadence of updates — roughly every one to three months throughout the post-launch period — shows no sign of slowing. This is a studio that has consistently delivered updates over more than two and a half years since the 1.0 launch, with no statement that development is winding down.
